Approximately twenty-five thousand homes in south-east Queensland found themselves experiencing outages on the start of the week after powerful weather events swept through the state, producing strong winds topping 109 kilometers per hour.

Large Hailstones and Widespread Impact

Homeowners reported giant hailstones as large as 7cm in certain regions. Meteorological experts verified that various areas across Queensland had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the damaged zones, with dozens of response units deployed to handle the numerous electricity disruptions.

Victorian Climate Difficulties

At the same time, around 1,000 residents in the southern state also faced power outages after the metropolitan area saw its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.

Rescue organizations responded to 598 calls for help across the area, mostly for property damage but also for downed trees and inundation.

At the height on Sunday, in excess of 28,000 electricity consumers in the state were experiencing outages.

Moist weather were predicted to continue along much of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.

Tomorrow was expected to become the wettest day, with ongoing thunderstorm potential predicted across multiple regions of both states.
